Lei Mei focuses his practice on patent litigation and complex commercial litigation, including U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 Investigations, as lead counsel, co-counsel, and ITC local counsel. He counsels large and emerging companies in the US and globally regarding IP and commercial issues and strategies, drawing from his unique international upbringing and diverse experience in business, technology, and law.

A registered patent attorney, Mr. Mei provides a full range of IP services, covering a broad spectrum of electrical and computer technologies. He practices patent litigation before the ITC and in federal district courts. He has argued and won several appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also counsels clients on patent procurement, portfolio management, technology transfer, licensing, patent analysis, risk assessment, and due diligence on M&A deals.

Prior to founding Mei & Mark LLP, Mr. Mei was an attorney at the Washington, D.C. office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP.

Prior to entering law school, Mr. Mei enjoyed a successful career in information technology. He spent several years as a software engineer and later a senior developer/analyst at PNV, Inc., a startup telecommunications firm, where he led many software development projects. Subsequently, he worked as a consultant to Office Depot, Inc., providing business and technology services regarding business logic, relational databases, and e-commerce solutions. He later joined the company as a member of the Global E-Commerce Group, where he contributed to the development of Office Depot’s multi-billion dollar e-commerce solutions.

While in law school, Mr. Mei served as a research editor for the Duke Environmental Law & Policy Forum and worked with the Duke AIDS Legal Project, where he won a social security disability appeal case on behalf of an indigent client.
