Lei Mei counsels large and emerging companies in the US and globally regarding IP issues and strategies, drawing from his unique international upbringings and diverse experience in business, technology, and law.

A registered patent attorney, Mr. Mei provides a full range of IP services. He drafts and prosecutes patent applications with an eye towards enforcement, drawing from his patent litigation experience. He practices patent litigation before the U.S. International Trade Commission and in district courts, and assists clients in appeals to the Federal Circuit. He also counsels clients on patent procurement, portfolio management, technology transfer, licensing, patent analysis, and risk assessment.

Mr. Mei has handled cases covering a broad spectrum of electrical and computer technologies ranging from semiconductor devices to computer software and hardware. He also speaks frequently in seminars in the U.S. and China regarding U.S. IP law.

Prior to founding Mei & Mark LLP, Mr. Mei was an attorney at the Washington, D.C. office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP.

Prior to entering law school, Mr. Mei enjoyed a successful career in information technology. He spent several years as a software engineer and later a senior developer/analyst at PNV, Inc., a startup telecommunications firm, where he led many software development projects. Subsequently, he worked as a consultant to Office Depot, Inc., providing business and technology services regarding business logic, relational databases, and e-commerce solutions. He later joined the company as a member of the Global E-Commerce Group, where he contributed to the development of Office Depot's multi-billion dollar e-commerce solutions.

While in law school, Mr. Mei served as a research editor for Duke Environmental Law & Policy Forum and worked with Duke AIDS Legal Project where he won a social security disability appeal case on behalf of an indigent client.

Representative Cases:

* Drafted and prosecuted patents for many large and emerging companies, specializing in electrical and computer technologies.
* Established a patent pool for a major consumer electronics industry in China.
* Negotiated and reviewed licensing agreements on behalf of licensees, resuling in savings of tens of millions of dollars.
* Represented U.S. Philips Corporation in a reexamination proceeding (CD technology).
* Represented BCD Semiconductor in a reexamination proceeding (IC Design).
* Represented Respondent System General in 337-TA-541, Certain Power Supply Controllers & Products Containing Same (ITC) (IC Design).
* Represented Respondents Avago, Lite-On, Kingbright, Arima, Hangzhou Silan, Shenzhen Guoyexing, Foshan NationStar, and Jiangsu Bright in 337-TA-640, Certain Short-Wavelength Light Emitting Diodes, Laser Diodes and Products Containing Same (ITC) (LED);
* Represented Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. in MicroUnity, Inc. v. Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (E.D. Tex.) (Computer Chips).
* Represented LG Electronics, Inc. in Intellect Wireless v. Motorola (N.D. Ill.) (Mobile Multimedia Messaging).
* Represented Wenzhou Trimone Science & Technology Electric Co. Ltd. before the US Customs and Board Protection involving design-around products in a post-ITC proceeding (CBP), resulting in a first ever victory for a Chinese company (Circuit Design).
* Represented Wenzhou Trimone Science & Technology Electric Co. Ltd. in two Federal Circuit appeals (GFCI).
